Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant, 2017-2018
Hallo zusammen, hi everyone,
My name is Rebecca Meier and I am your Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) for the academic year 2017/18. I recently finished my Master of Education at the University of Paderborn, Germany. It is so exciting to work with you all and become a part of the SSU community! I am looking forward to being able to participate in a mutual cultural exchange while assisting you with mastering your German classes.
I will also continue the tradition of offering the “Kaffeestunde” at Charlie Brown’s every Tuesday from 12-1 pm (look out for the German flag!) as well as the movie night "DVD Dienstag" every other Tuesday at 7 pm (look out for posters on campus and check social media for dates, movie titles and trailers). All German movies will be shown with English subtitles.Bring snacks and friends, it’s going to be fun!
Also, if you’re interested in the German lifestyle and want to be up-to-date with our events, follow the FLTA Instagram profile (@germanfltassu), like the FLTA Facebook page (@germanfltassu) and join the "SSU German Club Gemütlichkeit” Facebook group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/ssugermanclub/?fref=ts). In November 2017, I participated in the mini-conference “Germany and European Integration” sponsored by the Germany Embassy in Washington D.C. My presentation was titled “Empathy – Where Integration Starts and Islamophobia ends?”. You will be able to access it here soon. Three German students and I also published the first bilingual newsletter at SSU - Lobo Welt. Click below to have a look!
Bis bald
Rebecca
